How it works

From a name to a clear picture in three steps

  1. 01

    Search for free

Enter a name, a username, an email or a profile link. Trace checks public sources on the platforms you choose and shows each one as it finishes.

  2. 02

    Pick the right person

Compare photos, bios and locations. Every candidate shows why it matched, and weak matches are never padded in.

  3. 03

    Unlock a sourced report

Trace checks the same handle across platforms, finds web mentions, maps the connections and writes a neutral summary that cites every claim.

Inside a report

Evidence first. Conclusions second.

Reports open with a short, neutral summary. Each sentence carries a source tag you can click, so you can judge the evidence yourself.

  • Same username checked on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube
  • Public web mentions, with data brokers filtered out
  • A footprint map of how the signals connect
  • A plain explanation of how confident the match is

FAQ

Good to know

Is Trace free to use?

Searching is free. Guests can run a few searches a day; a free account gets more. You only pay when you unlock a full report.

Where does the information come from?

Only from sources anyone can see without logging in: public social profiles on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X and YouTube, public Gravatar profiles, and public web pages. People-search and data-broker sites are excluded.

Does Trace verify identity?

No. Trace shows possible matches and explains why each one matched. Profiles that share a name can belong to different people, so always check the sources.

Can I use Trace for hiring or tenant screening?

No. Trace is not a consumer reporting agency. It must not be used for employment, housing, credit, insurance or other eligibility decisions.

How is the AI summary written?

An AI model reads only the sources collected for the report. Every sentence must cite a source, and anything uncited is removed. It is instructed never to mention sensitive traits, addresses or phone numbers.

How do I remove my own profiles?

Use the removal request form. It is free, needs no account, and excluded profiles stop appearing in searches and new reports.

How long do you keep reports?

Searches and reports are deleted automatically after 30 days. Download a PDF if you want to keep a copy.
